Self Publishing on a Budget

Have you decided that you would like to write a book?  The Internet has certainly made this very easy, and more and more people are doing this.  However, the fact that you can write a book does not mean that you will be able to get it published.  Or does it?  There are numerous self publishing companies out there that can help you get the process started.  Many of these companies will also be able to help you make your dreams come true while you are on a budget.

Self Publish Ebook

The first step to self publishing on a budget will be to make sure that you are hitting a target market.  This means that you must be able to cater to the hot topics of the day.  It will be much easier for you to sell your books if you are writing about a topic that is of high interest to the public.  That means that you will want to do a little bit of research on the hot topics.  However, the Internet has made this very easy as well.  You can find just about anything online and you can certainly find what everyone is talking about.

Once you have written your book you will be able to use one of the many self publishing companies that are out there to put your book into print.  You will be able to select the print that you want, the cover page and the binding that you would like your book to be published in.  Something to know is that often you can select from a lot of different fonts for your book.  However, you may need to pay for fancy fonts for your book.  What does that mean when you are on a budget?  It means that you do not have to have fancy font. Some of these fonts will only make it difficult to read your book in the first place.  Keep things simple and save your money.  You might want to use it somewhere else.

When you are looking at the many companies that are out there, it will be most important to make sure that you are not using a vanity book publisher.  These publishers will actually charge you to put your book together and print it.  Some of these companies will charge anywhere from $500 to $15,000.  Then, you will only make money on your book if people buy it.  These companies will only print your book when it is ordered.  What is even worse is the fact that you are not going to get any proceeds from your book until you have sold a certain number of books.

As you research publishing a book you will find that it can be very expensive to find someone to create a book cover for you.  But, that does not mean that you need to give into that price.  It also does not mean that you need to give up on your dreams because you do not have the money to pay for a cover.  All you need to do is create your own cover.  Yes! That is right, make your own cover!  You can do this by searching through thousands of stock photos that you can be found online.  It might not be possible to use these photos for free but you can often use them for as little as $10.  This is not a high price to pay and it could be well worth it if you sell your book.

In order to sell your book you will want to make sure that people know about it.  This means marketing.  Now, most self publishing websites will be able to offer you marketing packages.  These will not be cheap and you are working on a budget, so you might need to carry out the marketing on your own.  Do not worry because there are some things that you can do to make this happen.

One way to do this would be to create a website.  There are numerous website builders out there that will allow you to create a site for free.  That is right, you can do this for free with no strings attached.  If you have never created a website before, don’t worry.  These sites are very easy to use and many of them will give you step by step instructions on how to build a site.

As you work on your website there are a few things that you will want to make sure you include.  First, you must make sure that you post a picture of the cover of your book as well as a picture of you.  Always include information about your book that will make people want to purchase it.  Tell readers what makes you qualified to write on the topic that you have selected.  It will make them more willing to see what you have to say.  Schedule events on your site for your book.  These might include a blog or even weekly tips and suggestions.  Finally, make certain that you are including all necessary information about how people can order your book.

Look into creating ads for your site and your book on different websites like Google.  You can often create ads on search engines for free.  Then you will only need to pay for the ad if someone clicked on it.  You can even set your price for the amount of money that you are willing to spend each day on marketing.  This is a great way to spread the word about your site and your book while maintaining a budget that fits your needs.
