From the Poet Lore guidelines:

Established by Charlotte Porter and Helen Clarke in 1889, Poet Lore is the nation’s oldest poetry journal. It has published world-famous poets and new writers side by side throughout its long history. Founded as a forum on “Shakespeare, Browning, and the Comparative Study of Literature,” Poet Lore soon sought out the original work of living writers from around the world. Among its enthusiastic early subscribers was Walt Whitman himself.

We are committed to diversity and inclusivity and highly encourage submissions from marginalized voices. In support of all of our contributors, we nominate select works each year for both The Pushcart Prize and Best New Poets.

WE ACCEPT SUBMISSIONS TWICE A YEAR: APRIL 1ST - MAY 31ST AND SEPTEMBER 1ST - OCTOBER 31ST.
