Saints and Sinners Literary Festival

Event Details

  • The Saints and Sinners Literary Festival was founded in 2001 as a new initiative designed as an innovative way to reach the community with information about HIV/AIDS, particularly disseminating prevention messages via the writers, thinkers and spokes-people of the GLBT community. It was also formed to bring the GLBT literary community together to celebrate the literary arts.

Now in its ninth year, the Festival has grown into an internationally-recognized event that brings together a who’s who of GLBT publishers, writers and readers from throughout the United States and beyond. The Festival, held over 4 days each Spring, feature panel discussions and master classes around literary topics that provide a forum for authors, editors and publishers to talk about their work for the benefit of emerging writers and the enjoyment of fans of LGBT literature.

2013 speakers include Andrew Holleran, Dorothy Allison, Ellen Hart, Felice Picano, Greg Herren, J.M. Redmann, Justin Torres, Martin Hyatt and Trebor Healey.

We are pleased to announce the Saints and Sinners LGBT Literary Festival’s Fourth Annual Short Fiction Contest. SAS Fest is seeking original, unpublished short stories between 5,000 and 7,000 words with LGBT content on the broad theme of “Saints and Sinners.”

One grand prize of $250 and two second place prizes of $50 will be awarded. In addition, the top stories will be published in an anthology from QueerMojo, an imprint of Rebel Satori Press. There will also be a book release party and reading held during the 10th annual Saints and Sinners Literary Festival in New Orleans May 23-26, 2013. A list of the top ten finalists will be posted on our website and in our e-newsletter.
