Deadlines: Feature articles normally are scheduled six months in advance.

Queries: Submit detailed query before sending manuscript. Enclose or attach to email copies of published clips and résumé. Unsolicited manuscripts are rarely accepted.

Style: Active voice, non-technical, with direct quotes. Optimistic, upbeat theme. Use The Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual.

Length: Features, between 1,000 and 2,000 words.
