From the Ilium Press guidelines:

For epics and sagas, I’m looking for the following:

•Original works.
•New interpretations of traditional works.
•New modern-language translations of traditional works.

Your epic must have a gripping story, realistic and conflicted characters, memorable scenes, plenty of dialog (even if it is stylized), and a careful attention to language.

I am seeking submissions in the following genres:

•literary fiction
•rock ‘n’ roll stories (fiction or non-fiction)
•crime novels
•historical fiction
•dystopian speculative fiction

In all cases, I’m looking for lean, direct prose; flawed and conflicted three-dimensional characters; realistic dialog; dry, wry, and ironic humor; conflict, tension, and drama; unexplained psychological wreckage; and acerbic social commentary.
