Before submitting to Stand Magazine
The Market List recommends you verify the market is active and accepting submissions before sending your manuscript via regular mail. You may verify a market status by either visiting their website, calling their listed phone number, or confirming via regular mail that the market is still active before sending them your work. To be sure your submission is appropriate for this market, we recommend you familiarize yourself with Stand Magazine by reading a sample issue before submitting. |
If you have recently submitted to Stand Magazine or have experience with this market, please submit a comment below. Recent submission response times are always welcome and helpful to other writers.
Stand welcomes submissions. Writers send work to us from all over the world.
Stand can only consider previously unpublished material, including that sent in by literary agents. We do not read or accept submissions sent simultaneously to other journals. Manuscripts sent from the UK should be accompanied by a Stamped, self-addressed envelope. Submissions from outside the UK must include an email address for the editors' response, as International Reply Coupons are no longer generally available.
Submissions may be made at any date. However, we often have a backlog of important writing awaiting publication. We will try to indicate when accepted work might be printed.
The most important advice we can give to anyone thinking of sending new work to Stand is to read some copies of the magazine beforehand. It should help you to decide whether your poems or stories are likely to appeal to the Editors and, most importantly, to the readers.
It is normal to submit no more than 4 to 6 separate poems.
Fiction submissions under 3,000 words are preferred. Stand is one of the few international journals that accepts substantial new stories.
We do not normally accept reviews or other articles which have not been previously arranged with us.
All submissions are read by at least two members of the Editorial team. Sometimes work may be read by four or more. We try to notify contributors of success or rejection within three months of the original submission.
