Jennifer Jackson

Jennifer Jackson is an Agent and Executive Vice President at the Donald Maass Literary Agency, where she has worked since 1993. Her experience includes subsidiary rights and expanding the agency’s genre representation. She focuses on building long-term author careers and represents notable speculative fiction writers including Elizabeth Bear, Anne Bishop, Jim Butcher, Kim Harrison, Tamsyn Muir, and Martha Wells.

Jackson represents adult and YA novels and novellas, with a strong emphasis on science fiction, fantasy, horror, and adjacent speculative fiction. She is particularly interested in grounded science fiction, futurism, space opera, second-world fantasy, secret histories, gothic fiction, dark academia, and horror. She also welcomes regional fiction in which setting or historical period plays an important role, including work outside speculative genres.

She looks for distinctive voices, imaginative storytelling, a sense of wonder, and stories that offer unexpected perspectives. She is open to writers at all career stages and particularly encourages overlooked and marginalized voices. She does not represent nonfiction, memoir, screenplays, poetry, or picture books.
