Molly Friedrich, Literary Agent The Friedrich Agency, founded by Molly Friedrich in 2006, is an active literary agency based in New York City. The agency is open to queries.
Molly Friedrich founded The Friedrich Agency in 2006, following nearly three decades at The Aaron Priest Literary Agency. Joined by her daughter, Lucy Carson, in 2008, the agency has retained its intimacy and dedication to attentive, hands-on representation. Our vision and strategy are built for the long term, nurturing and brokering not only print publishing rights, but every dimension of a writing career: translation rights, film & television, audio, serial, and merchandising.
The Friedrich Agency is a proud home for a select and beloved list of novelists and authors of non-fiction, both critically and commercially celebrated.
From the Submission Guidelines:
I’m still looking for the debut novel that is irresistible, for the non-fiction proposal which alters the way I see the world. I’m a fairly catholic, straight-ahead reader; I don’t flourish without well-rounded, declarative sentences!

Submissions
The Friedrich Agency has four agents: Molly Friedrich, Lucy Carson, Heather Carr, and Marin Takikawa. If you decide to submit your query to us, please send your query letter and 5 (five) sample pages to only one of our agents, with the word QUERY and the title of your project in the subject line, or submit your query through Query Manager.
Please see below for agent requirement on receiving queries through email or Query Manager.
We do not open attachments (unless we’ve requested a manuscript!), so please include all materials in the body of the email.
If you aren’t sure who would be the best fit, visit our About page or check out one of the many interviews we’ve each given to online outlets.
We regret that due to the volume of submissions we receive, we can no longer respond directly to each submission. It is now our policy to respond to your query only if we are interested in seeing more material.
If time allowed, we would far prefer to treat each submission as a chance for individual feedback, but it simply isn’t possible. We have great respect and gratitude for the broad range of talented authors who come to us via query letter— and many of our clients have launched writing careers from taking this first daunting step! Don’t panic; do the best you can, and we’ll do the best we can.
Hints
Send query letter and 5 sample pages to only one agent, with the word QUERY and the title of your project in the subject line. Do not include attachments - include all materials in the body of the email.
