Submission Guidelines
Laura Yorke Literary Services represents fiction and nonfiction in a variety of categories, including romance, women’s fiction, mystery, thriller, science fiction, fantasy, young adult, plays, and humor.
The agency does not accept poetry, scripts or screenplays, children’s books, textbooks, cookbooks, or works generated by artificial intelligence.
Query Requirements
Queries should consist of three paragraphs plus a writing sample:
Paragraph 1 – Introduction
Include the title and category of your work, estimated word count, and a brief general introduction.
Paragraph 2 – Overview
Provide a short summary or blurb similar to the description found on the back cover of a published book.
Paragraph 3 – Author Bio
Include information about yourself, your background, relevant credentials, and publishing history.
Sample Material
Paste only the first three pages of your first chapter or your best chapter into the body of the email.
Additional Guidelines
- Include the word “query” in the email subject line.
- Include the project’s word count.
- Only query completed projects.
- Do not send attachments. All material must be included in the body of the email.
- The agency does not accept simultaneous submissions to other agencies.
- For theatre scripts, include a character list and genre designation, such as Drama or Tragedy.
- Queries are accepted by email only.
- The agency does not accept queries by telephone, postal mail, or social media.
- Due to query volume, the agency may respond only to submissions of interest.
Fees and Commission
The agency does not charge a reading fee.
Clients may be charged for expenses including overseas postage and calls, photocopying, and shipping.
Commission rates are:
- 15% on domestic sales
- 20% on foreign sales
