Adria Goetz is a Pacific Northwest-based literary agent who began agenting in 2016. She represents picture books, middle grade, graphic novels, and adult fiction. From the Adria Goetz Submission Guidelines:
For submissions, Goetz opens QueryManager on the first day of each month, Eastern Time, and does not review email queries. She says she responds to every QueryManager submission and reports that roughly 95% receive a response within 30 days. Writers should follow up only for a significant development such as an offer of representation; there is no need to notify her of ordinary full-manuscript requests from other agents.
For adults, she wants lightly speculative fiction and magical realism, grounded or cozy fantasy, upmarket/book-club fiction, mysteries and thrillers, romance and romantic comedies, and unusual formats or points of view. She favors strong commercial hooks, smooth sentence-level writing, atmosphere, humor, heart, and a little magic. In middle grade she particularly wants fantasy, magical realism, mysteries, dual timelines, and graphic novels.
For YA she is accepting graphic novels only from new writers.
She is not currently seeking memoir/nonfiction, sports stories, space opera, eco-thrillers, Amish fiction, angels/demons, ancient historical fiction, Shakespeare-based projects, Greek mythology, Arthurian legend, high/epic SFF, military or espionage thrillers, or work created with generative AI.
