Janet Reid was a respected literary agent with more than two decades of experience in publishing. Over the course of her career, she worked with FinePrint Literary Management and New Leaf Literary & Media before establishing JetReid Literary, where she represented fiction and nonfiction authors.
Reid was especially well known for her candid, practical advice to writers. Through her long-running blog and the Query Shark website, she helped countless authors better understand the querying process, publishing expectations, and the business side of writing.
She was widely regarded as a generous and influential voice in the writing community. Janet died on April 14, 2024, following a brief illness. Her agency is no longer active, and submissions are permanently closed.
