Jennifer Joel

Jennifer Joel is a literary agent and Co-Head of the Books Department at Creative Artists Agency in New York. She represents a diverse list of fiction and nonfiction writers, ranging from literary and commercial novelists to historians, journalists, memoirists, business writers, adventurers, entertainers, and authors for young readers. Her clients have appeared on major bestseller lists and received honors including Pulitzer Prizes, National Book Awards, National Magazine Awards, and the Carnegie Medal.

Joel graduated from Harvard with a joint concentration in literature and history and began her career as an entertainment and media analyst at Goldman Sachs. She subsequently entered publishing at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates before joining ICM, where she worked with Amanda Urban and was named a partner in 2013. She later became Co-Head of ICM’s publishing department and joined CAA when it acquired ICM Partners in 2022. She now serves as Co-Head of CAA Books.

Her client list reflects the breadth of her interests and has included Bonnie Garmus, Shonda Rhimes, Evan Osnos, A.J. Finn, Stuart Gibbs, Jennifer E. Smith, Graham Moore, Kevin Fedarko, Lisa Taddeo, Sir Patrick Stewart, Jocko Willink, Leif Babin, and others. Joel is currently accepting submissions through CAA.
