About Michelle Brower

Michelle Brower is a founding partner and literary agent at Trellis Literary Management, which she co-founded in 2021 after more than fifteen years in publishing. She previously worked at Wendy Sherman Associates and later became a partner at Aevitas Creative Management. Her list spans literary and commercial fiction, and her clients include bestselling and award-winning authors whose books have been selected for major national book clubs and recognized by prominent literary awards.

Brower is particularly interested in book-club fiction, literary fiction, family sagas, story collections, elevated suspense, and high-concept novels that incorporate genre elements while remaining accessible to a broad readership. In nonfiction, she seeks literary narrative work in which a personal story illuminates a larger cultural or social subject. She favors emotionally engaging, story-driven writing over formal experimentation..

Michelle Brower’s Submission Wish List

I’m looking for…

Book club fiction, i.e. a commercial idea with a literary execution; think Celeste Ng, Kirstin Chen, Angie Kim

Literary fiction, particularly family sagas, tight contemporary stories, story collections. Anything not too formally experimental.

High concept novels with elements of genre, such as THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY, THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY, PORTRAIT OF A THIEF

Elevated suspense, like Tana French, Gillian Flynn

Literary narrative non-fiction, particularly books that take a very personal story and look at a wider topic/culture/theme

Very select, literary YA or coming of age

I am not considering the following at this time:
Prescriptive non-fiction

High fantasy/hard sci-fi

Children’s books/YA/new adult
