About Saritza Hernandez
Saritza Hernández is a literary agent at Andrea Brown Literary Agency (she/her/ella). She identifies as a queer, Puerto Rican, cisgender woman and is based in the Orlando, Florida area. She joined ABLA in June 2020 and has represented bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators of commercial fiction and nonfiction for over 15 years as an agent. Before agenting full-time, she worked at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (about 2001–2018) in textbook and product-development roles. She interned remotely and then became a literary agent at the L. Perkins Agency (about March 2010–July 2012), then served as VP/Senior Literary Agent at Corvisiero Literary Agency (July 2012–June 2020) before joining ABLA. She holds a B.S. in Management from the University of Phoenix.
From the Saritza Hernández Submission Guidelines:
Queries are accepted only through Query Manager. Email queries are deleted without response.
She opens only during a limited early-month window in 2026 (agency bio: first 10 days; her own site: first two weeks) — confirm the live form. She only accepts work from creators who identify with, or are members of, an underrepresented group or global majority.
She is actively building adult romance, science fiction, fantasy, gothic/horror, cozy mystery, and upmarket commercial fiction; adult narrative nonfiction in food/drink culture and pop-culture or family-dynamics narrative; YA and MG with special interest in science fiction and romance; also graphic novels and illustrators.
Fiction synopsis preference is about 2 pages, single-spaced (characterization, setting, conflict, resolution; HEA/HFN for romance). Agency default sample for novels is the first 10 pages — follow the live form fields. The form also requires a one-sentence pitch/logline; if you pitched her in a contest, paste that pitch into the form’s pitch field. Romance submissions should meet romance-novel criteria (central love story + emotionally satisfying/optimistic ending).
Andrea Brown Literary Agency Submission Guidelines
- Only human-created submissions; no AI-generated work will be considered.
- Select one ABLA agent to query via the Query Manager link on that agent’s bio. Do not query multiple ABLA agents simultaneously. If that agent declines, you may then query another open ABLA agent.
- You will receive a confirmation of receipt upon submission. The agent will respond even if only with a short pass; response times vary by agent.
- If you receive an offer from another agency, notify ABLA immediately and give them 2 weeks to review.
- Significantly revised/reimagined work may be resubmitted after more than 6 months (use title REVISED: [Book Title] and note prior history and changes).

YA and MG across genres, especially more science fiction and romance — including a queer MG first-crush rom-com.
Graphic novels (MG, YA, adult) by author-illustrators with a track record; illustrators for picture books through YA.
Queer, Latiné, and neurodivergent representation in genre fiction, with intersectional joy over trauma; diaspora voices are a soft pull.
Query and Submission Hints
- Lead with a hooky first sentence and avoid passive voice; on fiction she cares more about the work than a long credit list, while nonfiction should put platform front and center.
- Put a clear one-sentence logline in the form field; romance must meet romance-category criteria (central love story + HEA/HFN).
- Not currently open to unsolicited picture books or chapter books (PB only by referral); short-story collections and overtly religious inspirational work are passes.
- Soft tip: commercial fiction by and for diverse audiences; she is a self-described sap for friends-to-lovers and young-love stories.
