From the Guidelines
The Minnesota Historical Society Press seeks proposals for nonfiction book manuscripts relating to the history and culture of Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. They are especially interested in well-researched and well-written manuscripts that use the best tools of narrative journalism to tell history for general audiences. Preferred topics include Native American studies, Scandinavian studies, nature and environment, women’ history, popular culture, food, adventure and travel, true crime, war and conflict, and the histories of Minnesota’ diverse peoples. Authors are invited to submit a proposal that includes a working title, a 250-word description of the book, information about the intended audience, a list of recent books in the same genre and subject, estimated manuscript length, a schedule for completion, author information, a tentative table of contents, and 15 to 25 sample pages. Submissions may be made by mail or e-mail; e-mail is preferred.
