About Lane Heymont

Lane Heymont’s literary-agent path began at age eight, when his grandfather paid him $5 to read and discuss the classics.

He started his publishing career at The Seymour Agency in 2012 and in 2016 founded The Tobias Literary Agency, where he serves as President.

Favorite reads he has named include Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Algernon Blackwood’s The Willows, Alma Katsu’s The Hunger, Stephen Graham Jones’s The Only Good Indians, Ally Wilkes’s All the White Spaces, Chris Bohjalian’s Skeletons at the Feast, James Lowder’s Knight of the Black Rose, the Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood, Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and Paige Williams’s The Dinosaur Artist.

He represents a broad range of commercial fiction and serious nonfiction, with special interest in projects broadly defined as horror (including select young adult horror), and he actively seeks underrepresented voices in fiction and nonfiction. In nonfiction he focuses on the sciences, cultural studies, history, pop culture, and celebrity projects.

His clients and projects include Hailey Piper, Cynthia Pelayo, Johnny Compton, and Linda D. Addison.
