Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition The Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition is an active annual contest open to both U.S. and international writers.
The 2026 competition is currently accepting submissions, with a deadline of September 1, 2026.
Prizes:
The first-place winner will receive $1,500 and publication of their story on the competition's website.
The second and third-place winners will each receive $500. Submissions must be original, unpublished fiction up to 3,500 words, with no theme or genre restrictions. Entries can be submitted online via the competition's website.
The entry fee is $15 for stories submitted by September 1, 2026; a late entry fee of $20 applies for submissions from September 2 through September 15, 2026.
