The Harpur Palate Prize for Creative Nonfiction is an annual contest hosted by Harpur Palate, a literary journal published by Binghamton University.
The contest is currently closed to submissions, with the next reading period scheduled for January 1 to March 15, 2027.
The winner receives a $500 prize and publication in the winter issue of Harpur Palate.
The contest accepts previously unpublished creative nonfiction essays up to 5,500 words, with a $19 entry fee per essay.
Simultaneous submissions are permitted, but entrants must notify the journal if their work is accepted elsewhere.
