The Milton Kessler Memorial Prize for Poetry is an annual contest hosted by Harpur Palate, a literary journal published by Binghamton University.
The annual winner receives a $500 prize and publication in the following issue of Harpur Palate.
The contest accepts poems in any style, form, or genre, provided they are no more than five pages long and previously unpublished.
The entry fee is $19 for each submission of up to five poems, which includes a one-year subscription to Harpur Palate.
Multiple entries are allowed, but no more than five poems per entry fee.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, provided the submitter withdraws the piece upon acceptance elsewhere.
The contest is open to a broad audience, and submissions are accepted through the Submittable submission manager.
The contest is scheduled to reopen on January 1, 2027, and will close after 500 submissions have been received.
